Our Ethics

  •  CIBU is not a mass market educational institution.  We have a downtown San Diego campus facility and we serve students who want reasonable service, professional and courteous treatment, and presence in their own education.  Students who choose CIBU will not be just a number…they will be known by their name and they will get to know their professors as real people, with real-world business experience, not just authority figures.  There are no long lines, crash lists, and overcrowded classrooms.
  • We are a not-for-profit institution.  We prize transparency.  CIBU  has kept itself true in all of its history to low, affordable private tuition scales and frugal management.
  • CIBU is a true global and American institution in one.  From its inception in 1995, it has been committed in every way to the international student who wishes to have a US based and a California-centered educational experience.  US students are welcome and a vital part of this student community, but the university truly serves and understands the needs of international students who work so hard to get to America, are not used to high US tuition scales, and need to be included as the primary customer, not a special interest group who can be taken for granted or given less attention than the American students who sit side by side.  We exist for international students!
  • CIBU is committed to intellectual freedom for professors and students and encourages critical thinking, creativity, and global teamwork skills, the “number one skill” global employers are looking for.
  • CIBU cherishes its global diversity in its student body and faculty, yet it brings to students the key values of US and California business excellence…entrepreneurial spirit, honesty in business ethics, and an appreciation of cultural differences.
  • CIBU has been founded and guided by highly credible, credentialed, internationally oriented and experienced people, who represent modesty and solid tradition.  CIBU has been built for fifteen years on hard work by all, extreme dedication to mission and modest, honest values.
  • CIBU is committed to providing a relevant, excellent educational program for every student, and a personal experience in which one’s professional goals and life plans have an outstanding chance of being launched and truly supported.  CIBU sees itself as more committed to opening up new horizons to its students than to tracking them into narrow professional paths.  This philosophy fits CIBU’s global nature, its intellectual heritage of its founders and key leaders, and its programs which encourage intellectual independence and leadership in global business for future generations.
  • CIBU has high standards, for itself and for its students.  The institution strives to be a model institution with the various regulatory bodies which approve and accredit its programs.  It also strives to represent the best of what small, focused universities and colleges are all about.  CIBU is a Senior College in ACICS, its accrediting authority, and is one of a very few ACICS accredited institutions with undergraduate and masters and doctoral degree programs.  It demands high standards academically and professionally from its students who represent not only themselves and their careers but also the institution itself.  Every student is an ambassador…for CIBU and for his or her home country as well.  This gives CIBU and its community of students, faculty, and alums something very, very special…a growing, globally connected community with a shared  set of core values which will give strength to everyone involved, and help set CIBU’s very solid institutional reputation for years to come.
