We who live in San Diego feel blessed. Not only do we have some of the best weather in the world, but we have the ability to experience two of nature’s most powerful forces: the Pacific Ocean and a thriving community of Entrepreneurship.
Just as the ocean affects the world’s weather, Entrepreneurship affects the life of everyone living on our ever-shrinking planet. Entrepreneurial businesses (known around the world as SMEs) generate over 90% of all new jobs, are how over 85% of all wealth is transferred and generate approximately 20% of the world’s economic output.
In the rapidly growing areas of China and India, SMEs represent over 45% of all manufacturing resources in the fastest growing sector of those economies.
Despite the current economic downturn, in San Diego and in all of Southern California over 25 million people participate in thriving businesses in the fields of Media and Entertainment, Tourism, Corporate Events, Biotechnology and Defense.
At CIBU, we focus on providing our students with a first-hand entrepreneurial experience. Through class instruction, interactive assignments, company visits, guest speakers, intern programs and a twice per year student visit to the home of eBay, Apple, Cisco, Intel and Google in the San Francisco Bay area’s Silicon Valley, CIBU students leave San Diego with a better understanding about the Power of Entrepreneurship; and maybe a little better understanding of the Pacific Ocean, as well.
